Merged Interplanetary Data from L1

Quality-screened, multi-satellite solar wind data from ACE, DSCOVR, WIND and SOLAR-1 (magnetometer from April 2026), merged at 1-minute cadence and propagated earthward by ballistic time-shift or a 1D BATSRUS MHD simulation. Combining every available L1 monitor gives MIDL near-continuous temporal coverage no single spacecraft can match.

Why MIDL?

Any one spacecraft may have bad data points, which cause problems for solar wind — magnetosphere coupling studies as well as for models that take solar wind as input. MIDL merges measurements from every available L1 monitor with a consensus-based source selection algorithm and per-minute quality scoring.

Multi-source consensus

When three or more satellites agree, the median is taken. When any two agree, their mean is used. Single-source fallback only engages when no agreement is possible.

Physically consistent

Magnetic field and transverse velocity components are selected as coupled vectors, so measurements always come from a single instrument per variable group.

Flexible propagation

Propagate merged L1 data to any distance from Earth (including the Moon's orbit) via ballistic time-shift with shock handling, or a 1D BATSRUS MHD simulation along the Sun–Earth line.
