Idealized inputs

Build a synthetic solar wind time series for controlled model runs. Hold, ramp, step or oscillate each variable, check the traces, and download it in the same SWMF-ready TEXT or CSV layout as the real data.

Variables
Bx By Bz (nT), Ux Uy Uz (km/s), ρ (cm−3), T (K)
Segments
Hold, ramp, smooth step, pulse, sine, sawtooth, square, noise; a sharp step is two holds in a row
Output
Same columns as a propagated file, without source and interpolation flags

Configure run

Time base (UTC)

The timestamp is a placeholder; idealized runs usually start at a round, quiet epoch.

Output format
Coordinate system

Idealized values are written as given; the choice only labels the #COORDINATES line. Ux is negative when flowing Earthward.

Segments run in order. The last segment continues to the end of the run. Ramp goes linearly from the previous value to a target; smooth step does the same with a tanh edge; pulse is a Gaussian excursion to a peak and back, lasting its width; a peak below the current value gives a dip; sine, sawtooth and square oscillate about a mean; noise adds Gaussian scatter. For a rotating IMF at constant |B|, give By and Bz the same sine with phases 90° apart.
