Ballistic applies a simple time shift, available at any point in [−70, 70] RE. Overtaken measurements omitted. MHD uses a 1D BATSRUS simulation along the Sun–Earth line, integer RE only. L1 delivers the merged dataset at the closest upstream satellite.
The propagated solar wind solution is only valid outside the bow shock.
